Summary draft 1

In the article,” Go-Ahead Singapore rolls out 6-month trial of public buses with solar panels” Kok (2021), introduces the first time Go-ahead Singapore will be running ultra-thin solar panels on buses in a six month trial. The 1.6mm-thick, flexible and shatterproof panels are placed on the roof of two Man A22 euro 6 diesel-powered buses. They are expected to save 1400 litres of fuel, which is equivalent to 3.7 tonnes of reduction in carbon emissions. These figures are based on data collected from a trial in Southampton. The trial will also assess the effectiveness of the panels. Due to Singapore’s tropical climate, the panels are expected to produce exceptional results. This will result in a greener and more efficient bus. Two buses have been qualified thus far and can be used on public road trials. Go-Ahead reckons to recover the cost in four years from the reduction in fuel consumption.

Self-Introduction Letter

Dear Professor Blackstone, I would like to formally introduce myself as Ng Luo Fei. I am a first-year student, currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Singapore Institute of Technology. I graduated from Singapore Polytechnic back in early 2021 with a diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The  electrical and electronic engineering course, focused more on power generation such as electricity.  Mechanical Engineering focuses on getting physical parts, motors and components to behave in a desired manner.   My father sparked my interest in this field as I assisted him when I was observing how he fixed different household appliances.   I am interested in mechanical engineering as I want to find out how household appliances and machinery works in our daily life.  My communication strength is that I am an emphatic, attentive and patient listener, who communicates with others while understanding the struggles which they face. I followed up by providing them

Instructational Unit 1 - Task 3

"Developing excellent communication skills is absolutely essential to effective leadership. The leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to transmit a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others. If a leader can't get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesn't even matter." According to Gilbert Amelio, former President and CEO of National Semiconductor Corp, The development of excellent communication skills is extremely crucial for the importance of great leadership. The leader should share ideas and knowledge, prioritize the urgency while conveying these messages effectively and enthusiastically with others. Otherwise, the message does not have any value if the leader failed to convey a message clearly and motivating others to act upon it.
